What do I need to do to prepare for wood installation?

To help your floor covering installation go smoothly, here is a list of things that need to be done prior to the arrival of our installers:
  • The installers only move furniture, so furniture should be clear of all items such as lamps, nick knacks, books, pictures, etc.
  • Please remove all breakable items from drawers.
  • Closet floors should be cleared; also hanging clothing should be removed from the closet.
  • China cabinets, Curio cabinets and Entertainment centers should be emptied of all items including glass shelves.
  • Book shelves need to be emptied of all items and books.
  • Computers, Stereos, VCRs, etc. must be disconnected and moved.
  • Beds should be stripped of all linens and the floors below the beds need be cleared.
  • Any furniture (beds, desks, etc.) requiring special tools to disassemble need to be taken apart prior to installation.
  • All items removed should be placed in areas not being covered with new flooring.
  • Any pictures on the walls in hallways and areas where flooring will be carried in need to be removed, to prevent damage.
  • Any pets need to be contained out of the work areas for their safety.
  • The installer MUST be informed of any wiring located under the carpet or along the baseboard (stereos, alarms, etc.).
  • We will contain the dust on the job site with plastic and vacuums on the equipment. But some dust will occur, so any items that can't be cleaned or are hard to clean need to be moved.
  • We will NAIL down a few squeaks in your floor at no charge, but you must inform the installer prior to installing the flooring. Once the floor is installed, WE CAN'T FIX IT. We DON'T guarantee that we can fix all squeaky floor problems.
  • It is recommended that you put a new filter on your AC system before the job starts and once a week for two weeks after the job is completed this will help with dust control
  • While the flooring is being nailed down you can be in the house but once the finishing starts the floors can't be walked on.
  • When resetting your toilet, if plumbing to be changed or corrected or the inner workings of the Toilet fail, you will need to hire a plumber to reset/repair the Toilet. We will refund what we charged to reset the toilet on your signed contract, not the bill from the plumber or service person. We are Not licensed plumbers and can NOT make plumbing repairs.
  • We will move and put back your Refrigerator/Washer/Dryer as needed, but if the inner workings of the appliance fails or if the appliance can NOT be reconnected, you will need to hire a plumber or appliance person repair/reconnect the appliance. If we cant reset the appliance we will credit the amount we charged on your signed contract to move the appliance, not the bill from the plumber or appliance service person.

What do I need to understand before my flooring is installed?

Dear Interior Floors valued customer,

First we want to thank-you for choosing Interior Floors to install your flooring.  We will do everything within our power to make this a most enjoyable and pleasant experience. We have been pleasing customers in the Sarasota area for over 40 years.  You and Interior Floors are now on the same team. It will take both of us working together to make this a great installation. They say that understanding is 99% of the battle. We hope to educate you as much as we possibly can so that you can foresee any roadblocks or hurdles that we can work through together and make this an enjoyable experience.  Below are some bullet points that we have found help customers understand the process better.

  •  Be sure to read the back of your contract. It is very lawyerish but it’s good info to know.
  • We have also included a page that tells you how to prepare your house for your installation. Please take this seriously and prepare as much as you can. If the installers get there and the house is not ready it delays the whole process.
  • Our installers are not robots, they’re people. People are not perfect but they are trying to be. They will do the best job possible.
  • Our installers arrive on the job at different times. If it’s an am start time, that could range anywhere from 9 to 11. Normally when the installer picks up the material at our warehouse we will give you a call. Then they should arrive about a half hour later.
  • The installers are not paid hourly. They are paid per square foot or yard. The quicker they can get in and get the work completed, the happier they are.
  • Our installers work very hard. Their trade took a long time to learn and master. They will do the best they can but there may be hiccups. No job is ever perfect. If you see something that you don’t think is correct, let the installer know in a nice way. If he doesn’t respond like you would prefer, give us a call at the showroom. Our phone number is 941-358-5333. The more positive and pleasant your attitude is with the installer the smoother the job goes. No one likes to work for a grumpy, mean person.
  • It is always amazing how if a person is installing the floor themselves they think it’s the greatest job ever, even when it’s not very good. However, if they are paying someone to install they become very critical and very, very, nitpicky. We want to do a great job and install a beautiful floor for you but nothing is ever perfect.
  • The installer will have an invoice. When they are done and you have inspected the job and it is to your satisfaction, give them a check for the balance made payable to Interior Floors.
  • We will work as quickly as possible but we are not magicians. We cannot do a two week job in a few days.
  • Remember we are on the same team. It is not you against us. We both must work together to insure a great installation. Your good attitude towards the installer will go a very long way.

Our reputation is what has allowed us to weather the storm of the housing bubble and the economic crash of 09. We hope that you will be very pleased by your experience with us and that you will in turn write a good review for us online. Word of mouth and referrals is all that we rely on. We do no advertising.

Thanks again for choosing Interior Floors for your flooring needs!

How can I let other's know what a great job Interior Floors did for me?

There are numerous ways you can spread the word about your quality installation:
  • Go to google.com and search interior floors llc. On the right you will see us and you can leave a nice review if you have a gmail account. If you don't have one yet, they will allow you to set one up.
  • Go to Yelp.com and search for interior floors llc. They will then allow you to leave a good review.
  • On this Interior Floors LLC webpage if you go to the main page you will see a facebook icon on the right side about half way down. Click on that and you will be able to leave a good review on our facebook page.
  • Ask your salesman to give you some of his cards and you can hand these out as people admire your beautiful floor.   We do not advertise at all. All our work is done by word of mouth. Reputation is very important to us. It's hard to find a quality co. here in Fl. We hope that you will pass the word along and let other's know how happy you were with our service.
Thanks!!!

    Hi Joe,
I wanted to send you a quick e-mail to thank your company for the great work at mom's house yesterday morning.
Abel and Humbert did an excellent job. They were very efficient, professional, polite and took great care in their work.
Mom was so happy when she saw the finished product for the first time that she crossed herself and smiled for 15 minutes straight.
And I haven't seen her smile much since I got down here. I think she finally sees some "light at the end of the tunnel."
Abel walked her through the entire area and showed her the work they accomplished, and she was happy to see how easily
she could traverse the carpet with her walker. She's already fallen in love with the color of the carpeting.
Throughout the day she kept going back to the doorway to just look at the room. And she kept saying what a good job you did
in advising her on the carpet and color. She was very happy with the way you could barely notice a difference at the doorway
between her master bedroom and the living room.
Thank you again for all of your help. You'll hear from me in the next few months as to whether mom wants to do the rest
of the house now or if we wait a bit. Either way we will definitely be coming back to you again!

    Hi Joe,

I just wanted to drop you a note saying how much we appreciate the effort you made on our behalf to find the marble for us.

I know it is not a big order for you so all the more reason for the thank you.

There will be lots of folks who will have the same problem and I would have no problem recommending you. I am the President of the association and I can ensure there will be folks who will be glad to have a recommendation. There will be many who will take the opportunity to update their bathrooms, too.

When the order comes in maybe you could give me some cards to make available in our managers office.

It has been just over 4 years ago that we had our new wood floors installed from Armstrong Flooring. About a year ago we noticed that a couple of spots on the floor showed some etching or flaking of the finish. They were small and we didn't think too much about it. Then we began to notice several more areas over the next months. We called Joe, the owner at Interior Floors, LLC of Sarasota who installed the floors. Joe came out promptly and looked at the problem. He said he had not seen this type of thing happen to Armstrong Flooring products. Joe had a representative of Armstrong Flooring come out and look at the flooring. He thought it was unique and took some of the extra wood we had left over back to the manufacturer where they tested the finish. The finish was found to be defective.

Armstrong wanted to try and have the areas refinished and sent out a contractor to look at it. The contractor said that he would not be able to match the rest of the floor in the those areas. He supplied a letter to Armstrong to that effect.

Joe later contacted us that the only resolution was to ask Armstrong to replace the entire 2000 sq ft of flooring under their warranty. After some back and forth communication, Armstrong agreed to replace the flooring. They paid for the cost of the flooring and the labor to remove and replace the old flooring.

I am happy to say that the new floor has been installed after a two week period of removal and install. The process took about 5 months from the time of our first contact about the problem. My wife and I are very satisfied with the whole experience that our problem was taken care of to our satisfaction. Kudos goes out to Joe at Interior Floors, LLC in Sarasota who stayed on the case until the end. He did a great job for his customer. I highly recommend them if your are considering new flooring. Kudos also goes out to Armstrong Flooring for honoring their warranty. I really thought that we were going to have to fight them to get them to honor the warranty. That did not happen. That's what I call integrity in a company dealing with the customer.

Wow, Wow, Wow... So happy we met Glenn. We worked together on a style, our final decision was the Luxury Vinyl Plank, Summitt Plank, Barrett Oak. The way to go, it looks like a high end wood floor.

The contractors are super hard workers, with great work ethics., stuck to the schedule. The end result with the flooring is amazing. It's beautiful! A clean, open fresh look, easy to maintain, no worries. You will never go wrong with Interior Floors, the company is wonderful to work with, always available for questions, concerns and comments. If you are still deciding, just go for it!!!!!!

We contacted Joe Horner, he came out to our house ,we were taking outa living room dining room carpet and wanted new flooring. He measured make recommendations for the project . We vasulated over wood floors, laminate flooring and wood look tile.. We then visited the show room where he educated on pros and cons of each product, we chose an amazing porcelain tile that had a wood grain pattern.

We ordered it, the installer was most experienced , did an excellant job. It was done in 3 days. We are very pleased with the whole experience  and Joe followed up several time throughout the job to make sure we were pleased. We LOVE our new floor.
